Decoration Inspiration

I am sitting here writing this post and watching the Bachelor...the only thing I have to say about this season is that boy need to get himself a hairbrush! And possibly a haircut...I just don't see what they see in him!

Anyways....on to more interesting things! In about a month I will be moving into my own place, and with that comes a TON of new purchases to make the house complete! Up until now, I have never had a whole place all to myself, and have never been able to decorate anything other than my bedroom...so I am very excited and overwhelmed with this new apartment!

Choosing colors for the living room took some time...I have seen so many great ideas on Pinterest, that it was really tough to narrow it down. I decided I MUST have pink in my living room...

Choosing a second color was a little tougher...but I am going to go with aquamarine! The room above is my inspiration for it...I have a brown couch and cream walls, so hopefully the pink and aquamarine will pull it all together well!

I found this beauty on One Kings Lane for $165 (including shipping!!), and had to have it! It has a removable top for storage, and is absolutely adorable! So now I have the pink that I want to work with...just need some accents...

I'll keep you posted as the search for the perfect accessories continues! Unfortunately, Round Top isn't until March 30, so it may be a while till I get a chance to get some of the great junk!

Are you going to Round Top this year?? The show lasts from 3/23-4/8...time is running out to book your lodging!!

I'll be back in a few days with a new healthy recipe...Mac'N'Cheese Muffins!

Today's Pinspiration: Doors

No longer are doors just for entering and exiting my friends...although a cute painted door is always fun!

On the outside...

Or on the inside!

But you can use old doors for sooooo much more than that!

As a headboard...

As wall decor, instead of a painting or tapestry...

Or even beside the bed!

Get creative with these!! One person's trash is another one's treasure!

Have you seen any good doors lately?

Today's Pinspiration: Plates

My friends, I bring to you one of my favorite decorating secrets: PLATES!

You can use plates to fancy up any room in your house, not just the kitchen!

Get creative - they don't have to be hung an any specific order...

They don't even need to make a specific shape...

Use white plates to go for more of a classic cottage look

Or colored ones for more of a shabby look

Seriously friends - time to start your plate collection now! It can take months to get the perfect bunch ready to be wall-worthy.

TIP: Hang them in odd numbers! One of the many things you learn when your mom is a fabulous interior decorator (seriously - you can't get much better at decorating than Mama D).

Want to know a secret? These things are EVERYWHERE in the fields of Round Top! People just have piles of plates waiting for you to pick through.

And just in case you didn't already know...the Round Top Antique Show will be going on Saturday 9/17 through Sunday 10/2...meaning you have about a month to get your trip planned!

Today's "Pinspiration": Mirrors!

I just love the idea of decorating with mirrors! They make rooms look bigger, and can add a little bit of bling to a room!

No longer must you restrict your mirrors to the powder room! Whether they are the standard framed mirrors or sunburst ones...they can be perfect in any room!

Here are a few of my favorites from Pinterest this week:

Inspired yet?

These are some great examples of using mirrors in every room - living room, entryhall, bedroom and bathroom!

My favorite part about mirrors is that most of them are so easy to DIY! They are all over the fields in Round Top, and you can always re-paint an old frame to make it pop!

Have a great weekend my friends!

Nashville Inspiration

Finally! Back to Dallas, and home for at least a few weeks without any traveling (I hope!). This weekend was spent in Nashville with my lovely high school friend/college roommate, Jessica!

I had never been there before, so I was pleasantly surprised to see how pretty Nashville is! I loved the rolling hills, lush trees and cute old wooden houses!

We spent Saturday afternoon in Downtown Franklin, which was so fun! It is basically a Main Street, lined with cute little restaurants and shops. While most of them are a bit overpriced, they had some great ideas in them that I know you, my resourceful junkie reader, can do on your own!

I think that this DIY tray is adorable! I don't know why I never thought of this idea before...
They were asking for over $100 for this...but if you spray paint a thick frame and put a mirror in it, it could be soooo much thriftier! Definitely a project I plan on trying at some point!

I LOVE this chandelier idea for a little girl's room! All they used were silver trays, spoons and teacups!

Here it is closer up:

It would probably take a little trial and error, but with one trip to Round Top and a few hours of work, I bet this wouldn't be too bad of a little DIY project!

Maybe it's just the several years I spend my summers in Florida collecting seashells, but I LOVE the idea of decorating a house with them! You can use them in a traditional, modern, or shabby room, and they are always a unique and pretty addition! Bowls of sand dollars, vases filled with shells, a huge piece of coral as a centerpiece...the possibilities are endless!
They were asking for about $80 for a piece of coral here...but go to Florida or Mexico, and you can get them for a few dollars! Don't have time for a trip? Head to an estate sale or antique shop- they are everywhere!

Did you find any junkie inspiration this weekend?? Feel free to share your ideas in the comments section!

Wanted: A New Chair

I've decided that the next item that I am going to be searching for is a chair.

There is a corner in my room that is lonely, and I need a good "throw-all" place for my clothes!

Here are a few great chairs that I was able to find on Pinterest for inspiration!

Can you tell the one in the middle is my favorite??

I'm thinking I would cover it in a cream or light green color...

Chairs can be a nice touch to make a bedroom more "homey." Especially for us apartment gals without a bunch of living space!

"Don't feel like chillin on the bed? Sit in this fabulous chair!"

What do you think? Do you have an upholstered chair in your room? Did you go with a print or solid color fabric?

Let the great chair search begin!!
