Today's Pinspiration: Doors

No longer are doors just for entering and exiting my friends...although a cute painted door is always fun!

On the outside...

Or on the inside!

But you can use old doors for sooooo much more than that!

As a headboard...

As wall decor, instead of a painting or tapestry...

Or even beside the bed!

Get creative with these!! One person's trash is another one's treasure!

Have you seen any good doors lately?

Today's Pinspiration: Plates

My friends, I bring to you one of my favorite decorating secrets: PLATES!

You can use plates to fancy up any room in your house, not just the kitchen!

Get creative - they don't have to be hung an any specific order...

They don't even need to make a specific shape...

Use white plates to go for more of a classic cottage look

Or colored ones for more of a shabby look

Seriously friends - time to start your plate collection now! It can take months to get the perfect bunch ready to be wall-worthy.

TIP: Hang them in odd numbers! One of the many things you learn when your mom is a fabulous interior decorator (seriously - you can't get much better at decorating than Mama D).

Want to know a secret? These things are EVERYWHERE in the fields of Round Top! People just have piles of plates waiting for you to pick through.

And just in case you didn't already know...the Round Top Antique Show will be going on Saturday 9/17 through Sunday 10/2...meaning you have about a month to get your trip planned!

Wanted: A New Chair

I've decided that the next item that I am going to be searching for is a chair.

There is a corner in my room that is lonely, and I need a good "throw-all" place for my clothes!

Here are a few great chairs that I was able to find on Pinterest for inspiration!

Can you tell the one in the middle is my favorite??

I'm thinking I would cover it in a cream or light green color...

Chairs can be a nice touch to make a bedroom more "homey." Especially for us apartment gals without a bunch of living space!

"Don't feel like chillin on the bed? Sit in this fabulous chair!"

What do you think? Do you have an upholstered chair in your room? Did you go with a print or solid color fabric?

Let the great chair search begin!!

More Junk!

This weekend we decided to road trip out to McKinney, Princeton and Farmersville. This may surprise you, but this was quite possibly one of the best junking trips ever. For me at least. We decided to take the Lexus out there. After all, if you take the small car, you are destined to find the big items!

Naturally, my brother had to drive the Denali out there for us halfway through the morning. Good thing we had that!

Alyssa got a fab dining table and bench (the turquoise items) in McKinney. I also got  some great stuff:

Shelf for the bathroom - $25 in McKinney. I'll post pics once I have it filled up!

Metal box - $5.00 in McKinney. Already rolled up hand towels in it for the bathroom!

Bar cart - $22 in McKinney. Inspiration from this one (below) from Pinterest. I'm gonna go to World Market at some point to get some fun stuff to put on it!

Jealous yet? Just a few more treasures...

Decanters - $6.99 each in Farmersville
Pink wine glasses - $3.75 each in McKinney
Purple wine glasses - $2.00 each in McKinney

Overall, I highly recommend you make the trip out to at least downtown McKinney. The town square is lined with tons of cute shops and restaurants!

I also re-arranged my bedroom this weekend. It's good to have a little fresh start every once in a while! Also is a fairly decent workout to take apart the bed and move the big items all alone!

Stay tuned for more pics once I get everything accessorized and organized!

Happy 4th of July!!!

Wow! What a great long weekend! Started off with a trip out to Canton for some quality junking (and yes, we did have corndogs at 9:45 am). Before we died of heat, we walked out with a few good items...

I got this nifty collector's shelf (above) for $15 - Planning on turning it into a jewelry display like this one (below) I found on Pinterest.

The rest of the trip was spent finding filler items for my shelf I found in Round Top this spring...

Still need a few items to make it look complete, but it's better than having an empty shelf on my wall!

And lastly...

Found this cute little gem (marked $10, but got it with a few of the bottles above for $15). After I clean it up, it will be a pretty place to put my perfume bottles!

And every July 4th is not complete without a trip to the lake!

Red, white & blue cakeballs  - duh! A little classier than the last batch I made ;)  Also made the Best Macaroni & Cheese EVER (Note that you should use a 16 oz package of pasta...also added some bacon to the recipe)...huge hit with my brother and his friends!

Until next time my friends!
